uni, it kind of looks like gudebrod #541 that had something used as a cp. If I had to guess, it looks like a lacquer was used. You will want to use a color
stick to be sure.

You might try BC size A color 5430 tobacco with lacquer cp.

My notes also say that EC Powell used B/C #5430, but with orange shellac. Not sure where I picked that up or how authentic it is. However, in the photo, it
does appear that clear lacquer (or some other "complete" CP) was used as the CP, as there is guide feet are completely blocked from view.

eastprong- you are right on the orange shellac. Perhaps with the earlier oiled Powell's ?? and for sure on the very early solid built models. Tony may have
used lacquer?? Tony used a variety of the brown/copper shades in addition to the 5430. Suggest that both are tried on a test.

Thanks for the help so far, guys.
Does anyone know if Maslan is still around? or would some of the current Powell folks be able to supply this thread? Any contact info would be appreciated.

I believe the problem is now solved - and I want to offer thanks to all who helped out on this. Powell is one of the makers who still remains a bit of a
mystery to me.
Thanks, too, Rich, for your offer. I truly appreciate the generosity. Sincerely, Chuck
