I picked up an old fly rod this morning, the reel seat hardware appears to be nickle silver and stamped "Radio Trade Mark" Reg. U.S. Pat. Off".
No other markings on the rod, sock or tube. Any help in identification would be appreciated. Thanks

It's a Montague, George Varney era (1920's). It was one of their best grades at the time.

Unfortunately this one is a 3/2 and none of the sections are of equal length. Seems to be quite well made but had been through the ringer. Probably totally
refinished since there have been so many repairs.

All the "RADIO" rods I've seen were also nice Montagues. Don't forget, fellas, when they named that rod "RADIO" that would be the
equivalent of us using a term like "Atomic" or dare I say, "Triton", "Power Matrix" or "Zero Gravity" rods being sold
by a popular catalog company. Radio was some pretty high-tech, new-fangled gadgetry when that old rod was named....
