Beautiful, where in WV is this? I went to college in Elkins, I miss the mountains.

Tributary of Cranberry River. It could be any number of places though, there's more where that came from.

I never got to the Cranberry outback, it was on my list of places to go but, being WV I had more than i could get to just around Elkins. I've been back a
couple of times since then but not to fish, I think I need to plan a trip this fall....

Beautiful stream. When I was down fishing the Elk and staying in Slatyfork I wanted to try fishing the Cranberry area but didn't have enough time. (I did
fish some small creek off of a USFS road but don't remember which one.) Hopefully next time. Wvangler, if you don't mind doing so (and it's OK if
you don't), could you PM me a few of the better places to try, either the mainstem Cranberry or its tribs?

boarmountain wrote: I was fishing a Sir D (7' 4wt) that I made and my friend Chris is fishing a 6' 1 wt. that I made for him. The Sir D is WAY overkill for that kind of
fishing, but my brookie rod (PHY Smidgen copy) has a broken tip right now and I can't find the time to fix it.

One wt. is actually Nunley's Sunfish 6' 2wt. taper. I've made two of them and my friend Lee has made 3 or 4 of them. Everybody has preferred a one
weight on it compared to the 2.

Wonderful story and great photos, Thanks
All this talk about tiny rods made me feel like my 7' 3wt is a thunder stick. |

What a beautiful location and lovely fish. You've inspired me to go back soon to West Virginia. I haven't been there in many years but it holds a
very special place in my heart and personal fly fishing history. I caught my first trout with a fly rod there, near Marlinton, too many years to count ago
under the careful tutelage of my Uncle Jim. To a boy of 6 that fish was monstrous and mystifying. Although today I know it was more like those in your
photos, it still holds mythical status.
