I love to fish public waters, where fish know all about flies and fishermen. I love to see the fish and study my strategy to best approach and casting
situation. I love to fish small streams with little rods and big waters for big fishes. I love to fish.

Casting with dry flies during a trico, sulfur, or bwo hatch is my favorite. Soft hackle fishing comes 2nd. Least favorite is to fish with split shot,
indicator, and a nymph that weighs more than a spark plug.

It's tough for me to beat beetle fishing. Or ants. Those sippers just make the stuff of dreams on the topside and with cane.
Least fav. used to be nymphing with my foam ball indy or such. Still hate it. Recently a friend had me try a furled leader because he used it for nymphing by watching the tip of the light colored leader twitch with a lengthy bit of tippet attached. I've found a newer way to nymph now on our shallowish spring creeks. Works like a charm provided you have a few extra nymphs to contribute. That's a minor concern for the fun of watching that leader! It brought me several very nice fish last time out and saved the day. Jeremy. |

Jeremy, get yourself an orange furled leader - Great nymph strike indicator, easy to see.
Favorite would be dry fly, second ponds for blue gill etc, third nymphing. Pete |

Small stream brookie fishing with a light line rod is by far my favorite. Any kind of nymphing is for the birds.

Favorite: Sight fishing to actively-rising, selective, large trout on glassy waters such as The Ranch on the Henry's Fork, Carbon Flats on Hat Creek in
Northern California, or the Paradise Valley Spring Creeks. Tricos, baetis and PMDs would be my favorite....in that order.
Least Favorite: I really don't do anything but fish dry flies any more, so I really don't have a least favorite. I guess it would be indicator nymphing if I did it. |
