I fully realize this is not a bamboo rod question, but the people on this forum are some of the only ones that I actually value opinons from. It seems the
bamboo community is a successful, driven, goal and dream orientated group, so you all would understand where I am coming from.
Has anyone just picked up their family and moved somewhere? I currently live in Wisconsin, but have wanted to live in Montana since I visited when I was 13. I have visited many many times, and even took my wife out there to make sure she liked it. And she did. Has anyone just sold their house and moved across country without a job offer before? We have little to no debt, and we both are qualified for good jobs, I just can't imagine a whole lot of employers wanting to hire someone off phone interviews alone. Sure, the initial interview, but not the final one. Not to mention, I would need time to move all our stuff, sell our house, etc. The exact field I am in now would not be an option out there. I would most likely need to parlay My skills into a different field. I do accounting, sales, purchasing, management, etc. I am sure I could find something where I fit.
I live in a terrible city in Wisconsin (someone was just accused yesterday of shooting her 8 year old with a BB gun in the leg on her boyfriend's $1 bet. This kind of crap is constant in this city), and my boys are young, so now would be the best time as My 4 year old will just be starting Pre-K in the fall. I really don;t want to raise them in this city or the surrounding communities, and moving to another city in Wisconsin just really doesn;t appeal to me. I want to raise them in a great environment, not only in terms of a great city, but in terms of a happy household. I should have gone when I was 20 to work in Yellowstone like I planned, but some cards fell that just would not allow me to do so.
Is this completely insane or should someone truly follow their dreams? Has anyone been crazy enough to do something like this? If you have any tips about how to relocate, it would be helpful. I have been applying for jobs, and even had an interview when I was out there on vacation in June, but I still don;t have a concrete job. I need to get my house on the market, so it can sell, but I am worried that it will sell, and I still won;t have a job available. Please give me some sage advice. I don;t have someone in my life to give me really sound advice that is experienced in life. I want to live a certain lifestyle, and living in Wisconsin just can't satisfy that lifestyle. I know Montana can. My best friend lives in Missoula, and I am working hard to get out there with Him as We said we would, 15 years ago. He made it out there. I have not, yet. Please, bestow some fatherly advice. I appreciate it very very much.
