This unconventional marathon, the Cuttie-thon is a fund-raising event for the Cuttie-thon Foundation organized & headed by Zac Sexton. The Foundation donates proceeds to the Yellowstone National Park fisheries department to help save Yellowstone Cutthroat, the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes in Denver and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. This year the Cuttie-Thon will be held at the Grey's River near Alpine, Wyoming (SW of Jackson) on August 9th and participants will fish for 27-30 miles. The Cuttie-Thon will take an estimated 30 hours to complete start to finish. Participants completing the full length non-stop Cuttie-thon will be limited to around seven anglers, to reduce impacts to stream banks and substrate. There will also be two relay teams, each with a maximum of six anglers fishing smaller segments as well. Several gear and food sponsors have donated some great stuff in the past years and even more have joined in the cause this year. Also a lot of us will be armed with bamboo rods as both Zac and myself are amateur rod-makers. Posts: 136 07/21/2008 20:09	We had a great time fishing that stream last year, especially higher up, where it is made for cane. Willing cutthroats everywhere they're supposed to be, best was 16". White Wulff's, size 12, outfished the other dries by quite a margin. Tight Lines! Alistair

Posts: 2 08/04/2008 18:38	Below is a map of this year's Cuttie-thon route. I can email the waypoints to anyone interested. Wish us luck. The total route is about 26.6 miles! It starts near the confluence with Man Creek and continues to the Corral Creek bridge, on the Greys river.

Posts: 6 08/19/2008 13:22	The 4th Annual Cuttie-Thon was another success and a good time was had by all. This year Robert Walters, Joe Larson and Zac Sexton fully completed the 26.5 mile Cuttiethon in a time of 33hrs &15mins! Mike Carlson and Cameron Mortenson made it through the first day nearly 11.5miles total. I fished intermittently throughout the 2 days mostly keeping track of the group and providing support. Other support that made it possible included Tricia Curley, Jeff Houston, Ethan Sexton and most importantly Tom Sexton who prepared all meals at each check point. Also many corporate sponsors made this year in exceptionally good through all their donations. (Fishing Properties (fishingproperties.com) donated a custom-built graphite fly rod for the angler catching the most fish, a $500 cash donation and access to their Dead Man Ranch on the Greys. The Oskar Blues Brewery donated a wonderfully cold supply of Dale's Pale Ale and Old Chub for us to enjoy at the finish line. William Joseph provided two Exodus packs, Cloudveil donated a pair of 8x Pro Waders and boots, Petzel donated two, very bright MYO series headlamps. MaryJane's Farm donated a supply of organic dehydrated backpacking dishes, Big Horn Meat Cutting donated delicious jalapeno and cheese sausage and Happy Sticks, The Fly Shop of the Bighorns donated more than $250 of fishing gear including tippets, leaders, flies, sink and float putty and Orvis polarized sunglasses. Cliff Outdoors provided a couple of their original fly boxes. AND Matt Schliske donated the use his fist born bamboo rod) I haven't got the stats on total number or sizes of fish yet, but will post it when I do find out. So, far we've raised about $800 (cash), with more still coming in in addition an estimated $1,500 in product donations. Nothing impressive but not bad for a bunch of guys fishing for a cause!!!!
