Posts: 163 07/24/2008 00:13	Tags : None Hi All, About 3 years ago, there was an enthusiastic discussion at the forum about Chris Raine's work especially his Quad Rod which is Chris combination of the innovations by Powell, Reams and Brandin. I jumped into the band-wagon not realising that poor Chris had an avalance of orders to meet. Health problems also affected his building time and I could only wish for his good health so that he fish (priority here!) and then make more rods including mine... Chris toiled for 3 years, stopped fishing, planed hard with a new hip, discarded imperfect blanks, recovered his health, and it was worth the wait as I received a perfect rendition Blond Quad Rod with clean clear wraps and a beautiful Reams grip. Took it fishing with my buddy Charlie and we caught some nice fish and thoroughly enjoyed the 'far and fine' casting. This 5wt sent line out like no tomorrow and had fine tips and butter smooth action only a blond rod can deliver. Thanks Chris! Peacock Bass... hit 6 of these the first day A Pacu and a Bream by Charlie For delicate presentations, the rod worked perfectly with 5wt WF and for distance the rod boomed out 6wt WF Best Arthur

Hi Spey, Here are a few details photographed by Chris himself ... do note that there is varnish at the end of the ferrules pictured.. they are shiny smooth and perfectly blued when I got them. Arthur

Posts: 7 07/29/2008 16:25	I also had an order for the Quad with Chris through his tough spot of the last couple years. He kept in touch and I took delivery of #162 about 2 months ago (sorry I'm currently photo disabled). My quad is very similar to the one pictured and I also like it with either the DT5 or WF6. It has a nice feel and smooth action for shorter casts but really shines at 30 to 50 feet and can easily deliver more. An 8'3" 5/6 will cover most of the fishing I like to do here in the Norhwest. When I travel I usually think big rod/small rod and with a shorter 4 weight I would be ready to go just about anywhere. I expect we will see more and more of Chris Raine and Dunsmuir Rods mentioned and discussed as he gets more of his fine work out. I wish him the best. Loren

Posts: 928 07/29/2008 22:07	Arthur another nice rod. . . . WOW. . . I went through Dunsmuir last year in September and stoped at Chris's shop. It was the week he went into the hospital for the operation. The guys at the fly shop filled me in on the details they knew. Glad to see he is doing well and back at his bench, doing what he dose so well.

I was more concerned about Chris getting back to his beloved fishing at the upper Sac because everytime I contacted him, we'd be distracted by talk about family, hatches and fishing... and forget about the rod... Loren, yes, it is nice to know that many makers do deliver in spades if we'd just be patient. Your own beautiful rod must have inspired mine! Do post pictures of your Quad rod catches. Thanks. Arthur
