Oh sorry Joe,you asked about the insert
It's very highly figured
maple burl which even had a slight amount of spalting.I've heard many say that reelseats should be plain so as not to detract from the rod.For me the
opposite is true.I find that a highly figured and beautiful piece of wood in the reelseat adds to the beauty of the rod not detracts from it.............Will

Nice rod Will. Little did I know that while I went to McDonalds everyone else was having fun casting rods. What a deal! |

Here is my first attempt at a lightly flamed rod. All of the others up until now have been blondes. It is a "Sir D". The cosmetics aren't quite
up to the level of the others on this board, but I'm learning more with every rod and this one is my best so far(out of 4 completed). It does cast really
nice though. I probably should've used better cork, and the reel seat could use some more finish but this one is going to my friend Chris to be
"tested". He is by far the roughest person I know on tackle so if there are any problems with my construction methods, he'll find them!

Stephen,
You did it again, the inserts are a nice touch, but what I see is how nice the fit and finish is, not overstated. Great job. what color are the wraps, if I may ask? Joe |

5ft 4wt one piece | #215 | ||
|
Hello all,
This is a 5ft 4wt one piece, based on Bob Nunleys 504a taper (thanks for you help). It has an all cork grip and reel seat. Golden rod wraps with black tipping. This taper produces a very nice rod. I love one piece rods. http://i179.photobucket.c...orningmist101/NewRod2.jpg http://i179.photobucket.c...orningmist101/NewRod3.jpg |

8040 taper . . . | #217 | ||

Just finished this one. Started to wrap it as a Granger Deluxe, but decided to tip it with black instead. Everything is handmade 'cept for the
ferrules and tip tops (still workin' on those). My personal favorite . . . so far.
