I have recently aquired 2 Kingfisher rods and know nothing about them. Have been told they were made by Montague. One is supposed to be ca. 1860-1880, is this
possible? A short bit of the history on Kingfisher rods would be appreciated.

1860-1880 is too early.WAY to early. The 1st kingfisher rods were made by Montague and either had Kingfisher engraved on the nickel plated brass reelseat or the
Kingfisher bird decal on the butt section. They were the lowest grade to middle grade rods sold by Tryon. The top grade being the Jay Harvey.Straight linear
taper on the butt section. After WWll the Kingfisher model was made by Heddon.Easy to tell the difference as the butt section had a distinct swell in front of
the grip, nickel silver hardware,Heddons standard downlocking reelseat with a tenite insert. It also had Kingfisher #103 handwritten in black ink on the #1 flat
in front of the grip.
