How can I ascertain my Bouglés are made in England? They are both numbered, but that is all... no Made in England marking.
Best regards,

Hardy has never made anything but Prototype Bougles outside of England. All Bougles including this years MK VI are made in England. The same holds true for
Cascapedias. At this point all of the lightweight series (flyweight, featherweight, LRH) are still made in England although Hardy is considering moving them.
As of 2/08 all of the Hardy Classic reels for sale in the US are still British made. Their has been some misinformation on this and admittedly part of it was
Hardy's fault. But Hardy only considered moving production on the classic series they have not done it, and they have assured us (Cortland) that they
don't intend to move the Cascapedia or Bougle anytime in the near future.

Thank you, fisbanjo and Burk48237. It gets even more interesting:in fact, the 3/25 is marked; but the 3/50 is not. Both MKVI, both numbered and virtually
identical, except for the size, of course!

Invulgar wrote: Hardy at one point last season was considering moving all their reel production out of England. At that point as a cost saving measure they pulled it off all their reels. They did lower the price of all of their classic reels. We are trying to get them to put it back. For the record the Korean Reels are clearly marked (sticker) and have to be, buy law.

I received a message in reply to this from a friend in Alnwick.
Please don't shoot the messenger. He stated that all Hardy reel production is now in Korea. They are working on prototypes in Alnwick, but don't have the personnel remaining in Alnwick to produce reels there. |

Deja vu ......... again...
So I asked House of Hardy "Which was the last model Bougle made in the UK?" They replied "Hello Brian. The last Bougle to be made in England was the Mark V version." |

I recently handled one of the marksman reels and I can safely say that the Korea move for these new fangled reels was a great idea. The classics should have
stayed in Alnwick though...

Hardy sure seems to be in the obfuscating mode! If that is correct that the last Bougle to be made in England is the MKV they are shameless!

The Hardy web page on the Bougle MVI has a photograph of the reel that shows the stamp Made in England.
If it is true that the MKV was the last Bougle made in the UK, this reel has never actually been on the market. Alternatively, the statement that the MKV was the last one made there is incorrect, and some at least of the Bougle MKVI reels are UK made. Has anyone seen a Bougle MKVI in real life, as distinct from a photograph, that is stamped Made in England? |

What confuses the situation is that the Hardy web page for the Bougle Mk VI actually shows a MARK V with the
Made in England text.
I notice a number of dealers are also using this same photo.... A real photo would be good |

I have a MKV and a MKV1. The MKV has the wording " made in england by hardy on the spool" the only wording on the MKV1 is " Hardy Bougle
MKV1". It is not even close to the picture on the UK web site. The reel and the picture on the web site are not in concert. I bought the reel the first
year it came out. Like I said before if it is true they are shameless! I emailed hardy and asked them as well will keep you informed of their response!
