It's a sock. And a bargain at 3 pairs for $15.

And, as the esteemed Chief Inspector questioned when my wife purchased bamboo bed sheets, is it impregnated or varnished?

Hmmm. I would say impregnated.
I'm wearing them now. They're pretty comfy. |

Can't believe it is labeled "Navy" at such a low price. Obviously it's not a US military organization contractor; the Geoffrey Beene spelling makes me think British? And to think when I saw the title of this thread my first thoughts were "spats, oxfords and a tweed waistcoat topped off with a Derby hat and bowtie". Ken |

My guess re. the cause of the smiles is a group agreement that after the photo shoot they're gonna' play fox & hounds with the gent in the back row
wearing the baseball cap as "it". It would be a hoot to show up on the stream, fading in & out of the grey dawn mist, dressed and geared circa
1880-1930.

Breeks, another term (British I think) for knee pants or Knickerbockers. Several guys in the front row of the picture above are wearing them. I can't
imagine how they went out of style........

Last year I decided to dress the part as being discussed in this thread during an annual fishing outing. I had the tweed cap, button shirt, tweed vest, Chapman
bag, Bamboo, silk etc. It must have been a pretty funny outfit to see a 25 year old in because I had 5 cars stop and take pictures of me. My only complaint was
that it was a very toasty outfit to have been wearing on a 77 degree day.

Just to complete the picture, the tasseled knee socks worn with the breeks are known as "flashes". I'm sure we were all dying to know that.
This forum does not have enough bandwidth for me to list all the things I am "no fan of". So I, and I hope others, will stick to talking about what I am a fan of. PK |

Exactly! It's completely understandable that we tend to view Orvis and other big outfits in a different light than smaller concerns or individuals, but the
rules is the rules......

Many Americans call breeks "knickers," which in Britain means ladies' underpants, so be careful when you order your outfit.
Actually, "pants" also refers to ladies' underpants. If you decide not to order breeks, don't switch to pants, unless, well, you know. Order trousers. |

I believe "plus fours" is another phrase for breeks, as in "four inches below the knee". When I began climbing and skiing we just called
them knickers- had we tough guys known about the british definition I guess we would have changed our "bottoms"

I once thought about dressing up ...but if chest high waders are worn, along with the fully packed vest, nobody would know what was underneath. So I gave up
on the idea.
