Greetings from the Black Fly State |
Lead | ||
|
Greetings all, I have been a member for a couple weeks, I was introduced to this board by a friend, in fact I know several fairly prolific members here. I was
introduced to fly fishing by my little brother, life got in the way of fishing. Recently, I was reacquainted with a very old friend, who by chance is the rod
maker who sent me to this board. One thing lead to another, I am learning to cast a bamboo rod on one of his prototypes, as I am making the prototype case that
will house his rods. I have become inspired to get my raggedy old self out on the water again fishing, although this time with Bamboo. I reside in the state of
Maine, where we are just starting to see the leaves on the trees. Yes, as you may have surmised from my name here, I make cases, although I was trained as a
bookbinder first and have developed the cases over years. I also dabble as an architect. As this is an introduction, please feel free to see what I do on my
web site, sorry, no fishing cases there yet, but that will soon change.

Hi from NH Peter. Keep your eyes open for next years SuperBoo; that is if you think standing in a gym in Feb, talking with a bunch of bamboo nuts, casting
hundreds of different bamboo rods sounds like fun

Some people maintain that the Maine state bird is the black fly. Others claim it's the mosquito. Anyone who has fished there knows there are legitimate arguments for both. |

Hello all, and yes Maine Cane, I hope to see you on the water this season. I will keep my eyes open for the local events. I am in Blue Hill, midcoast.
As far as the state bird, I am still not sure, as mac7x has put up my 2 leading contenders, I have been carried of by both. Peter www.awbookbinders.com |

No more Maine and upstate NY for me . I've had it with Black Flies! Worse yet, after the Black Flies come the Pumpkins, Noseeums (sic?), etc. Even the
mosquito's are big and unusually poisonous. I have scars from 30 years ago.
I now fish the Au Sable, not the Ausable!
