phillipson powr pakt |

hey guys, there is a guy who live next to me gave me some fly fishing stuff that was his grandpa's. There were several fly rods and reels, and the one that
caught my eye was this phillipson. Its a powr pakt 7'6', 3 3/4 oz. It seems to be in real good shape, it is strait and all and the finish is in good
condition. the only wear is on the cork. It doesnt have the original rod tube or sock though. I was just wondering how much this rod might be worth. Here is
some pictures.

About $500 if it has 2 tips, more if it had the original tube and bag. You only posted a picture of one tip, if it is just a one tip rod then $350. A very nice
rod. Go fish it and enjoy

Should be a great rod to fish. I think Horton Creek is about right on the value. It looks like the stripping guide has been replaced, possibly with a snake
guide, and rewrapped.

Rather than a replacement stripping guide, could it be a custom made hook keeper we are seeing?

Southbranch wrote: That's what I was thinking too. It's definately too close to the grip to be a stripping guide. But it's definately not original as the thread doesn't match. |

By golly, I think you're both right. Someone must have attached it there to keep from covering the writing or altering the original winding wrap.

Yup. I know I get frustrated by the lack of a hook keeper on my Powr Pakts and don't like using the stripper as a keeper, but I wouldn't want to wrap
over the inscriptions or mess with the factory wraps. I suppose this is one solution and is easily reversible.

I prefer to use the down-locking hood on a reel seat, but with a reel seat like that one, it may present a problem for some size hooks.

I use the snake one, two or three about the stripper, then wrap the leader down around the reelfoot and slightly tighten up on the line, the, when ur ready to
start fishing again, you already have the whole leader and some line out and your ready to strip and lay out some line

the 7.5 phillipson's in my experience are awesome and under-rated 4/5 wts.
