There is a rod for sale I just noticed with a few pictures. Its called a "fly rod" in the description, yet is only 5` long and looks to have some
oddly shaped plastic grip. It`s # 751 . I am just curious if anyone has heard of this rod ?

certainly sounds like a baitcasting rod, which was the Heddon Pal during the 30s to 50s.
Many of these were steel and painted to look like bamboo. (wouldn't have a plastic handle, though, it would be cast aluminum handle with a wooden forward trip, cork handle and a plastic butt cap) Heddon Pal fly rods, especially the 7-1/2' Pal Pro-Weight are among the best glass fly rods ever made (from the 60s). |
