IMHO it's wow too with its current price only because it's owner is Tom Morgan. I'm glad for Tom. I wouldn't read into it that all of Per's
rods will now bring over 8K.

I guess anyone who can afford to spend $ 8000.00 for a fishing pole is not affected by recessions/ depressions. Either that or it is his final manic moment
before leaping from the 40th floor.

Unbelievable. I know the buyer after a long, drawn out mix-up over a rod transaction we had a few years ago. If I recall correctly, a while back he spent
nearly $20K inside a week on two unmentionable site auctions for a couple Dickersons. Must be a recently retired mortgage banker.

$9,000.00? Has there been any more of Brandin's new rods that have sold in the after-market where the price is known? And, what is his "current"
price for anyone who has recently taken delivery of one his rods?

I'll be just as happy with my Spittler Quad coming next year for 1/4 the price.

i couldn't be any happier for TOM to get that price on his rod , i think that some now might be thinking like brandin rods are worth the same , ?
i also thought i seen that rod for around 5k and she's now jumped up to a little over 8k , good on him, same thing i hope he gets it , if you have something that someone wants bad enough and has the money , well hey go get a little of that old musky money then , i have paid more for a reel that i really wanted for my collection then it's value was at , just so i could get it , it only will go up in value , took about a year for it to go by what i paid and i have a few guys who'd just grab it if i was to sell it , quick cash when i need it, plus i get to use it and fondle it whenever i want or have the urge to i wish now i had 4 or 5 of them brandin rods , again i say the really good stuff will always sell and from the looks of it , pretty dame good i'd say toms rods whenever he parts with them are doing great selling , his last rod was the russ peak 7 ft made for him and it went for over $3400 if i remember correctly , i think he's broken a couple record's on the flea bay with fetching them prices , isn't it just great ,

I hear Tom is in bad health and just possibly the bidders knew as well and saw the money going to a good cause
anyhow its just like the stock market, much based on feelings and whims |

It was a very interesting week for the more sought after cane rods on the web auction site. How did the 7'6" Garrison get away for just over $4,500?
And, despite Tom Morgan's association with the Brandin rod, I think the real reason it sold for such a high price was two bidders both desperately wanting
a Brandin and both bidders being persons willing to pay a price near $9,000. And, a nice, but used, Spittler 8' 3/2 quad selling, within hours of being
listed, at a buy it now price including shipping equal to $2,650. Looks like the same roller coaster the market is on .... at least to me. R

Wow, at this rate with the two I have and my new one coming, I might be able to retire! Wonder if Tom would list it for me.
All kidding aside, I am happy for Tom! Dave |

I look at it as a fine example of unrestrained capitalism. Both a satisfied buyer and seller. It works every time!

now come on don't be such a tease , i have been checking your profile everyday just waiting to see what else your going to part with , i'd like a carlson quad to add to my collection , I just don't think it's worth the $8k with me LOL i think the rod went high as it was a brandin for sure but i think more it was made for tom with his name on it , reason i think that is , i'm sure all one would have to do is put a post now or better a few weeks ago on the sale pages asking for a brandin rod and willing to pay $6000 and i think he'd get a few rods to look at , they are out in the dealers hands for alot less then the $8900 that it went for , i'll bet that will change also , now after this everyone will be wanting at least that amount for what they have , i'm just sicken that i don't have a few brandins to sell to all the guys who will be wanting to buy them up after this, LOL hang onto your carlson as you just never know

Bottom Line: As I found out today this had nothing to do with the rod and everything to do with Tom's situation and maybe just a bit about keeping this rod
here in the USA
Really this was the exception to the rule and it's great to see the good that will come out of this. So I guess everyone can stop speculating! As Paul Harvey says.....And now you know the rest of the story! Sal Fontinalis aka Sal - recently retired mortgage banker? Nope Firehole aka Dennis - I'll be just as happy with my Spittler Quad! Yes you will Fishbates aka Dave - Tom is in bad health and just possibly the bidders knew as well. You had insight on this one! Paxlev aka Ric- How did the 7'6" Garrison get away for just over $4,500? The 2nd tip!!! HERMES2069 aka Phil- I wonder what the value of Mint Carlson Quads are? Carlson's are worth about $995.00. Why is it still for sale |
