Converting Heddon ferrules to 64ths |
Lead | ||
|
I have a Heddon trade rod labeled "R.S. Elliott," and on the next flat, "Thunderbolt." R.S. Elliott was a sporting goods store in KC, and
rod is not what I'd call a Thunderbolt. I don't recall the size of the mid ferrule, but the tips are 11/64ths. Can someone provide the decoder
between Heddon's ferrule sizing and 64ths? Is it based on tip or mid size?

Based on the butt ferrule. Is your rod an 8 ft or 8 1/2 ft rod? Either case, it should be a #2F rod. Or the butt should be a 18/64 ferrule. But they had
10.5/64 ferrules for tip sections also. If that is the case, your looking at a #1 3/4F or a 17/64 butt ferrule

Heddon ferrule sizes are based on the ferrule on the butt section (butt-to-mid for 3 pc, butt-to-tip for 2pc):
00 (11/64) 0 1/2 (12/64) 0 3/4 (13/64) 0 (14/64) 1 1/2 (16/64) 1 3/4 (17/64) 2 (18/64) 2 1/2 (19/64) 2 3/4 (21/64) 3 (22/64) |

Heddon also used a "10.5/64" for the tips on at least some of their 8' and 8-1/2' LT rods.
