As you know I received my rod a couple of weeks ago & when I pulled it out of the tube I was awestruck as usual as to the beauty of what I beheld in my hands. I could not wait to cast it so even though it was a cold blustery day here in Michigan I grabbed a reel & headed to my back yard for some casting. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the rod cast as good or better than any rod I have ever laid my hands on.
I have had the pleasure of casting many of your rods both @ SRG & the Grayrock bamboo rod gatherings & as always I have never been disappointed. I feel that I am pretty lucky that I have been fortunate enough to be able to get one of your rods. I am hoping that the weather may be good enough here to be able to get out fishing with my new rod, but if not I may have to come up with an excuse to head down to North Carolina to fish the Davidson River here soon. I was hoping to make SRG this year but work obligations came first.
Back to the beauty of the rod; the workmanship you put into your rods has always blown me away & when I looked at the wrok you had put into the beveling of the cane I can only say the rod is tight on every angle, the finish is amazing, the rattan grip is so incredible I have to keep looking at it & the wraps are tight & even on every guide. I have seen many rods by many people & I believe that your rods display the best work I have seen for some time.
Thanks again for the work you put into my rod & hopefully I can make it down before too long & we can get out & fish. Of course you also have an open invitation to come to Michigan & we can get my drift boat out & hit quite a few rivers around here. I am not too far from the Pere Marquette, Au Sable & Manistee.

Now, THAT is the kind of letter that makes working countless hours on a customer's rod worth every little cut, bruise and splinter...
Later,
