"Stevens Point/Weber/Jack Scott/#2003". The rod is in excellent condition, has two tips, and came in a metal rod case packaged in the original cloth holder. Any idea of a manufacturers date and/or value.

Weber Fly Rod |

I purchased a bamboo flyrod years ago at a yard sale and would like to know more about it. The label states:
"Stevens Point/Weber/Jack Scott/#2003". The rod is in excellent condition, has two tips, and came in a metal rod case packaged in the original cloth holder. Any idea of a manufacturers date and/or value. |

Your post was moved to this site so that folks can help you a bit better. Weber rods are well known on this site and someone should be able to give you a
detailed answer sometime today.

Jack Scott would have been a former owner's name. Look for a model ID, usually a sticker or decal on Webers. Examine the tube or the bag careful for ID.
And photos are essential. But as noted, there's a lot of Weber expertise here.

Any chance it says "Jock Scott" and not "Jack Scott?"

CWFLY,
You are correct. Upon closer inspection, the name on the rod is "Jock Scott". It is a 10' rod (full length - tip to tip), and includes two tips. The cloth bag only has a tag (WEBER, Stevens Point). Above Jock Scott is the model/serial number #2003. The rod tube is metal but has no identification markings. Once I learn how to post a picture, I'll send one. |

Monroet, I know next to nothing about Weber rods and have no idea of the value of your rod. I do know that the "Model #2003 Jock Scott" was sold by Weber in about 1950 in two lengths, 8 ½' and 9'. I don't know about a 10' rod. Weber sold, around that time, five grades of fly rods at $40, $30, $25, $20 and $16. The 2003 Jock Scott was the $20.00 rod. Someone else may have some idea of a present estimate. |

It is a 9' rod (my mistake). I don't think it's ever been used as it is great shape. Thanks for the info. I guess I need to try it out!!
