Fishing in Montana |
Lead | ||
|
I have been considering relocating to Montana. I am a retired Rural Mailman from Potter County Pa. and have never been in the northwest so I am looking for the
"right" place to go . I would like to Flyfish for trout and hunt both birds and big game. Any help I could get would be appreciated. Thanks GCS8

I am now living in Florida. I moved here to get away from the cold and to try saltwater fishing. We still go back to the farm to hunt and fish.

Dillon. Great fishing and hunting nearby, and affordable real estate. Also, would consider nearby small towns like Twin Bridges and Sheridan.

Bitterroot valley, not as cold, not as much snow, not as much WIND. Darby, Hamilton all very nice little towns which are close to Missoula. Which has
hospitals, entertainment and if you are a vet there is a Vet hospital there. It at the foot of some great mountains, not far from the Big Hole and great
fishing and hunting.

Hey Bill,
I was born and raised in Montana and get back there a few times a year to visit and fish. I have a cabin on Flathead Lake and still consider my self somewhat of a native even though I've lived in Minnesota for a long time. I have some particular opinions about life and living in Montana, and if you're interested in them, PM me. If you are serious about moving there, I would definitely take a vacation and visit a few of the potential areas where you might relocate. At the very least, it would be a great trip and you would be able to fish some of the greatest streams in the country. You would then be able to get a sense of what the different towns and cities might offer. Montana is definitely a great place to end up if you are an outdoors person - there is so much to do and it is so dang pretty out there! Have fun dreamin'! Dean

Lets see? You moved from Potter Co. to get away from the cold BUT you are going to move to Montana which normally gets ALOT colder
than Potter Co.,Pa.
With apologies to Snooken and you other Floridians,I
can't say as I blame you gcs8.I've been to both places and Montana is a 1,000 times more scenic than Fla.

My story is similar to Lstshkr's. I lived in Dillon, Helena, and Missoula, and have a family cabin at a lake near Ovando. Feel free to PM me with
questions, too. You can take the boy out of Montana, but you can't take the Montana out of the boy. Right, Lstshkr? I sure do want to get back there
full-time, though.

I thought I would like Florida but I find I am not cut out to live in a big city like Port Charlotte. The Snook,Redfish,Tarpon,Seatrout... fishing is pretty
good here, it is just to crowded. I am ready to get cold again and since my wife is an ex-dairy farmer from Ulysses Pa (potter county) she is also ready to
return to rural life.

I lived in DIllion for about 3 months and settled in Three Forks. I am two hours from most of the rivers in Montana. There is lots of Hungarians and
pheasants - do not forget the ducks. you are a 30 minute drive to Bozeman for Doctors etc.
