A classic look and a quality that will stand up for a hundred years. Like the Hardy Perfect. And the Medalist... My 1492 willl most certainly hold togeter for
20 - 25 more years...
Thanks, // Mats |

Well, come to think of it...A hand made modern era reel isn“t too bad either... Like a Bogdan, Hermann or an Engelbrekt among many others. Nothing like the
work by a skilled craftsman.

A traditional simple reel that has a some extra weight to it to help balance out rods.
Most modern reels are too light. Pete

The choice of a reel is a function of the occasion, regardless of whether or not it has some balancing purpose. The choice may be simply to show off something
nice, either expensive or rare, e.g., like some of those reels pictured on Banjo's website. Conversely, some of those downright ugly reels posted by
Bulldog can only serve one purpose; fishing...ergo to hold the right line and backing. etc.
Balance may be important to the latter but not the former. .

Basically on board with Horsesho regarding the Hardy Lightweight series but could there be a way to have a slot added to the foot so that additional weight
could be added to the seat when desired. Generally prefer my rods to balance to the tip for my fishing but on occasion when I am going to high stick or need to
raise the rod high for mending etc it is much nicer to have the rod balance more flat in the hand. Figure the only practical place for the weight to go would
be under or in the seat. IS this possible?

I'm with Horsesho, I like a light weight reel. The Orvis CFO is an excellent trout reel as are the Hardy lightweights.
