Hello All;
I have never owned; nor seen, a SouthBend 290. Many of the forum members indicate that the 290 is an an excellent 7 1/2', 5-6wt fly rod. As we know, the #1500 was available in both a 7' and the more common 7 1/2'; which is also marked HDH or E. From personal experience, the Cross/Southbend #1500 is one of my favorite rods; thus, taper.
Question: Are the tapers the same between the SB 290 and the #1500? If so, then IMHO, the SB290 is a terrific buy at todays prices.
Thank you;
Richard
