Lyon & Coulson #314? |

|
I can't find a listing for a L&C #314 in Mr. Sinclair's book.I am guessing this is L&C's Crown model (it's 8' 3 pc. Heddon
swell).Mr. Sinclair has listed The other Crown models as Heddon #14 Thorobred. The other Crown models number start with 3, but I don't see 314.Any info
would be appreciated, age approx. line weight, etc.

Canetuck,
Hope you don't mind if I piggyback your question with one of my own. As you own a L&C Crown 8' #314, I own a L&C Crown 7 1/2' #312. I also have not been able to find any info on this series of Heddon rods for L&C. Hopefully someone can enlighten us both! Bob Go Heels!!! |

Canetuck,
I followed your rod during the auction (assuming it was the same one). I would be interested in the details related to the rod. I decided against it because I have a Heddon #10 8' 2F and a Folsom 1510 8' 1.75F. Does the rod have rolled ferrules or soldered? Also, How many guides on the mid and tip. I also had no luck locating info related to the model number. Hopefully someone has additional information for you. I believe after a refinish, a very nice purchase. I love mine. The only thing I can offer based on infering model numbers is perhaps it is a light or standard/ trout? It looks like in the Regent Model the 10# is trout and the 12# is bass and the 13# is salmon. That leaves the 11# as a ????? action. Heddon did make an extra light trout 1.5F, a light trout 1.75F and a standard trout 2F in 8 feet for their own rods. I can not make that work for Bob's rod. If this is not the rod recently sold, sorry in advance John |

Fellas:
I hope this does more than add to the confusion, but I have a Lyon and Coulson Regent #114 in an 8.5' with a ferrule size of 1 and 3/4. Does this clear up the #11 significance? Ed Pirie West Topsham, Vermont |

Ed,
I am not sure about the #11 but you have a very nice rod. A Regent is model 20 grade with a model 35 reelseat if it is like my 8' Regent and the 1 3/4F in 8'6" is pretty hard to find and a great taper. |

JP,
This is the rod you speak of.I haven't received it yet so don't know much about it.Another forum member told me that the seller told him it was the 1.5 F model. |

Canetuck,
If the rod is a 1.5F then you have a real steal. Good luck John |

If I'm measuring the ferrules right this rod is a 1 3/4 F.There are four guides on the tip and four on the mid.The rod is marked Crown #314.I suppose it
is the equivalent of the #14.I was suprized to see there is no noticable swell.I'm not sure about the difference between rolled ferrules and soldered, but
it looks soldered, totally different from the HI rods I've owned.

measure the snake guide above and below and pick the one you think is next. 2 tips ?, yes.
I would try the 4dt & wf and 5dt &wf lines and see when it starts to sing. If you have some silk that would be nice to try as well. |

When you state 4 guides on the tip, does that include the tip top guide? All my notes on heddon 8ft rods, from #10-#50 show 4 guides plus a tip. In 8 1/2 and 9
ft rods, the guide numbers vary, with the higher grades having more.
