This was a hard decision because my other great outdoor love is upland bird hunting with my English Setters, and this date cuts a full four weeks off my season. However, I needed to balance that with recovery time (6 months +) which will seriously shorten my fishing season, as well. I guess giving up all the spring hathces and the last month of bird season is the best compromise that could be reached. Plus, my oldest daughter will be home the first two weeks after surgery to take care of me, so the "Bah, humbug!" of being rather incapacitated (and mumbly on Percoset) at Christmas time will be somewhat offset by having a live-in nurse of sorts.
Does anybody have ideas for ways I can pass the time while on the mend? Anything a right-handed guy can do for a few months with just his left hand (keep it clean!!!
)? The worst of all this is I will probably receive a new rod
or two during this time that I won't even be able to cast. That will be nearly unbearable!
