If this post doesn't belong here please move it or delete it. I couldn't figure out exactly where, or if, I should post it. Anyway, I was recently
given a Daiwa, 731A fly reel by one of my employees. He knows of my love for fly fishing and he told me "it is old" so he gave it to me. It
can't be very old but it certainly isn't new as it was on an older Eagle Claw fibreglass rod. It seems to be a fairly decent reel and because it was a
gift from an employee I'd like to use it. It came RHW and I believe it is easy to switch to LHW. I know how to move the spring from the left to the right
side as your looking into the reel body, but.......I screwed up and didn't pay attention to what Daiwa calls the "friction spring" and how it was
connected......and it came out.....and I don't know how to hook it up. I know where it goes.....but how does that dadblamed thing connect to the pawl or
whatever that other thingy is called? (yea...real technical of me, huh). At any rate I'm at a loss as to how to hook up that spring. Any help or advice
appreciated.......
I know....it isn't a Hardy, Ross, Orvis, Young, Abel or any of the other high end makers but what the heck, it was a gift from an employee who thought enough of me to pick up this rod and reel and give it to me. For all I know it was given to him and he just passed it on but that's unimportant.
Thanks
Vic
