dt4wt, From what I've heard, there's been no issue. You might want to give Bucky or Cam a call at Blue Ribbon Flies. They're pretty up to date on
conditions. Carlos

No impact apparently. Breach was repaired or at least patched at end of September. Actual repair work is scheduled for the spring. The stretch between the
lakes fished well through October, including giving up a fly caught 10#+ brown.

Water levels in the river are back to normal - Hebgen Lake is as low as I have ever seen it. Hopefully the repairs will work and be done before run off. We do
have decent snow pack so far this year.

We fished the Madison at the 3-Dollar Bridge area (downstream of Hebgen Lake) at the end of September when flow had been reduced to normal. There was some
brown grass along the banks, but otherwise the river looked and fished like any other September. Blue Ribbon Flies has a weekly email newsletter and it has
mentioned no continuing problems. Carlos' suggestion to call Blue Ribbon Flies is a good one. They will give you a good, honest report from a
fly-fishing point of view.

According to my friend Larry Miller, proprietor of the Sleepy Hollow Lodge in West Yellowstone, the low water in Hebgen has effected the lake's insect
life. Maybe Firehole can comment.

Andy,
I'm not aware of the plant life being affected. I know the lake is at 75% of full pool and they're still letting out more than the inflow since they're expecting a good runnoff. I'll be in West this week and I'll talk to my friends at Blue Ribbon. Dennis |
