I was given a Horrocks Ibboton Rod which is in very sad shape and it would probably not even make a good decoration. However... the rod was given to me by
a very good friend and the more I look at it, the rod certainly has been fished many times. To just throw this rod in the corner, well, it seems like I am
closing the life of this rod.
If it's a decent rod, any suggestions on who I can send this rod to for a complete restoration?
I am very new to bamboo rods but looking at this rod, I am starting to think maybe it's one of Ibbotons' better rod's.
Here is what I find:
Decal - Cannot read
Reel Seat - Sliding ring type - Stamped: Best - By TEST Horrocks Ibbotson Utica NY
Sections - 3 at 39 inches Cracked tip. :~(
Ferrules - Seem better quality than my other Ibbotson. Top of ferrule is not rolled but instead appears to be machined better/stronger. How's that for a
description.. Told ya I was new at this!
Weight - I would guess on a 5 wt.
