I am a complete novice when it comes to knowing anything about classic flies or classic fly patterns for that matter, but thought I'd share a photo of
an unnecessary, but very appreciated thank you gift that showed up in the mail yesterday.
Last fall I had been contacted by Graydon Hilyard who had seen one of the Bogdan reel prints I'd done when he was visiting the Bogdans. He asked if it
would be possible for him to get a copy.......let's see...the author of "Bogdan" is asking for a copy of a print I made.....and I'm a Bogdan
nut.......well, that was an easy "Yes" answer to give....of course I'd like it if Mr. Hilyard wanted a print.
He'd asked if he could give me anything for the print and I explained that they were not for sale and he owed me nothing. I knew that his son was a tier
of classic salmon streamers and I mentioned that if he wanted to do anything for me in turn for the print, I'd enjoy a fly or two from his son.
The photo below is of two streamers that he sent me that I think are just beautiful. Note that I have no idea if I should have adjusted the feathers for
the photo....so if things look out of place it's my fault and not the tier's.
If anyone can provide additional information on Hilyard flies and advice on how best to display these on the card it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark B
The lighting wasn't great for this photo and it really doesn't do them justice...
