Although the Windsor reel isn't in the same class as your classic reels, anyone ever heard of one? It was made by Stuart Mfg. Co., Norwalk Conn., not a bad
little reel but rather basic.

Hi Bruce,
would love to see some photos, but there are a couple you may want to contact. Richard Lodge on ORCA http://orcaonline.org/v-w...php?mode=viewprofile&u=65 Andy Manchester http://old-yankee.u.yuku.com/ Searching Stuart on ORCA would also turn up some information for you. Stuart reels are very nice, made from the late 30s to the late 40s.
the rods are never obsolete - the marketing is.

Ron, thank you very much for the come back, I wasn't sure this reel would rate a reply. I looked on the ORCA board only to find that I have not one but two
Stuart reels. The Windsor is mint with the orig. box, the other reel is a #1 as per ORCA board and would rate a 7 or 8 on a scale of 10( no box). I'll try
to get some pictures up this evening. Once again, thank you for the information. As you can tell I don't know very much about reels, in fact I'm hard
pressed to remember where they all came from. But then they have just accumulated in my work shop over the last 40+ years. At my wifes insistence I'm
trying to do an inventory of same. I think shes planing on useing ebay once I'm gone, with luck that wont be for a while(G)

Bruce -
In addition to Bulldog's links for info, I think you'd also find some posts about these reels on the "Fiberglass Fly Rodders" forum. The Stuarts look like really nice reels, and I too would like to see yours as I don't recall ever seeing one marked as "The Windsor" Mark B |

I'm putting up pictures of the Windsor Trout & Salmon Reel. You'll have to bear with me because I don't know what views are needed; I'm
used to working with rods, not reels. The Windsor Reel does not have the name Windsor on it. The name Windsor appears only on the box. On the silver button on
the back of the reel, straight across, is written Stuart. Around the edge of said button it says Norwalk Conn. USA.

sorry I missed this post before, Bruce.
Thanks for the photos. That is a very cool reel - I had seen the reel, but never the name or box. I'm sure if you ever want to sell it, there are Connecticut reel collectors that would jump at it.
