The issue of where Hardy reels are made only concerned me if the cost savings of the Korean manufacture were not passed on. I neither need, for the fishing I
do, nor can I afford an essentially bench made reel. And I am a huge Hardy fan, having bought new 2 Bougles. 1 St.George Jr. a Featherweight and Flyweight
plus various 60's-70's Sunbeams, Perfects and spools. etc.

And of course RockThief is most correct: the demise of Hardy would be the demise of the Hardy girl. But then, we always have the Chapman girl, right? She hangs
around at stream side, that Chapman fetching bag across her shoulder, that traditional cane rod in mid-cast.

That's one reason I have used a Chapman suitcase for years. The ladies need employment.

Wouldn't be nice if Hardy sold Perfects at the same prices as the Cascapedias! |

I struggled with this for a full 48 hrs. As a rule I don't spend much money on reels, common Hardy, Young, Forbes, that sort of thing. Okay, I did buy an
unused Abel Creek last year but it was a screamin deal.
In the end common sense ruled the day. I ordered one. A 3/4/5 Cascapedia from Harrissportmail. I choose the smallest size because I am a bit concerned about the 5/6/7 wieghing in at 8oz (1/2 pound). Thanks for the heads up Bulldog. TC |

I have a 3 Chapman bags and one Brady, and all of those were screaming deals.
And to really confuse the issue, Harris sportsmail even has good prices on Hardy bags. |

Mark,
I was beginning to think the same thing this morning; however, I just got on the site and ordered the 2/3/4. I just couldn't pass up such a bargain! $274.26, including postage. A very easy sight to deal with. The reel will be dispatched on Monday! Bob |

I just ordered a 2/3/4 myself, at 212 euros incl. postage it simply wasn't a deal I could let pass. This will be my first not made in England Hardy reel,
and it will be somekind of a benchmark for me. Can't wait, it'll also ship on Monday!

I just got my MKII 8/9 home and opened up it for surgery. My first impression is that reel is - overall impression that it was well made - no plastic inside (cannot say of disc drag which was capsulated so I couldn't open it up) - tolerances are tight (no extra gaps or slack anywhere) - adjustable disc drag (for 8/9 and 10/11 only) is easy to operate and has power enough to stop big fish One big minus is heavy weight (341g). This reel is for two-hand rods. Reel has production number Exxxxx and had small sticker saying "Made in Korea" which ends-up speculation where these reels are made (at least part of those) Anyway, I'm happy and I think there is reel enough for the bargain price they are selling these reels at the moment -Jukka

you may note, Jukka, even the small reels are heavy. I anxiously await my 2/3/4, and expect to find some use for it on 8' cane.

I just picked up my 2/3/4 at the post office and it's a wonderful reel. Beautifully made, no cosmetic or technical flaws to be spotted anywhere and it
spins and clicks like a Swiss watch. This little Korean stands proud between its English brothers, and quite rightly so. Great value for money, I love it!

received mine today. Of course, I had to switch it from WHW to RHW.
I noticed on disassembly, while the design and tolerances are fantastic, there were little shards of aluminum here and there, and it really needed a good disassembly cleaning (sprayed the disassembled reel with Boeshield, wiped it down and lubed it) before I started with it. Not complaining for the price - it's an amazing buy - but I could see some of the debris making a nuisance for someone. |

Isn't 8oz ridiculously heavy for a 5/6wt reel? I mean, seriously, that is as heavy as two
Godfreys......

the 2/3/4 is exactly the same capacity as a Godfrey 274W and weighs about one ounce more.

Weights may be understated on the Godfreys. On the Perfectionist 306 anyway, it is by my scales almost 1oz heavier than advertised

Is it blasphemy to say I'm looking forward to the day when I can purchase a LHW, Korean-made, agate Perfect for less than $300.00? I'm a heretic,
right?
