First rod I'm build like this.
Do you measure the butt length to match the other sections with or without the fighting butt?

I bought a reel seat with a removable fighting butt.
First rod I'm build like this. Do you measure the butt length to match the other sections with or without the fighting butt? Pete

Thanks Art
Next dumb question, how do you store it? Make the tube long enoough with the fighting butt installed? Or take it off and hope like hell you don't loose it? Pete

Store it on the rod. Get a tube long enough for the whole works. Sew the rod bag so the tip section compartments are shorter than the butt by the length of the
removal butt but have some kind of stop to keep the tips from sliding around. You want that butt in the tube where it won't get lost.

In the past, I have had custom rod socks made and a compartment for the fighting butt sewn in.. You would want to go up to the larger id tube too.
Edwards did a similar bag design.. the compartment is up next to where the butt section would go. Maybe Pat can chime in on this one as well. |

I have a Heddon #36 with a removable fighting butt and orig. bag. In this case the butt is installed on the rod and the bag is made to the overall length of
the butt, and shortened for the other sections.
