Any Macallen is the way to go. Always my advice to new drinkers. You can not go wrong at any of the price points.

Bushmills 16 single malt Irish. Third aging in port pipes adds a nice sweetness that compliments fine cigars. Lagavulin 16 is my close second.

Can't argue with Macallan. I have a bottle of 18 y.o. that's been waiting patiently to be savored (or savoured). Maybe it's time.
I'm also partial to Springbank - very well balanced. And Longmorn 15 y.o. which was a very pleasant summer single malt. Unfortunately they stopped making the 15 y.o.and now make a 16 y.o. (that I hear is not as good) that they feel they can charge almost 50% more for. |

A bottle of 14 y/o Oban and a Macanudo works for me. There will be plenty on Super Bowl Sunday.

Gentlemen,
Isn't scotch made by straining good ole Kentucky bourbon through a pair of very well worn socks? Give me Wild Turkey 101! Forgive me, I just couldn't resist!!!

Balvenie Double Wood in a heavy, cut crystal, old-fashioned glass. No water and no ice, please. On occasion I match this up with a La Gloria Cubana #6. Both
are superb and the very low price of the cigar somehow off sets the very high price of the scotch which makes both tastier if you are a Yankee. Bill Lambot

When I used to imbibe I enjoyed a good Oban, or an 18 year old port finished Glenmorangie.. There is a cigar store in New Orleans called The Cigar Factory
(when I used to work there and smoked) putting out a really good smoke - fresh, good tobacco, and most of the time better than an older Cuban not kept
correctly. (there is a story behind the Cuban).

Any of the several ages of Macallan; Highland Park, either 12 or 18 yo; Balvenie 15 yo. All are wonderful. I'm currently enjoying a couple of bottles of
cask strength from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society store (gift from my brother) that are also tantalizing, but which must be enjoyed with a bit of water.

Oh..the "other" stuff....
Make mine Macallans. Typically 18 yr I think. I'm currently draining a bottle of Oban 14 and I'd go back to the Mac in a minute. Lagavulin is good on off times too. I've done some Dalmore's and they were alright but I prefer Mac. in most single malts I've tried. I go easy on it, maybe a bottle a season. Jeremy. |

Macallen-not to change the subject but Patron Anejo tequila is a very nice sipping "whiskey". Many layers of flavor, subtle yet distinct. Don't
bother with salt or lime, fine tequila transcends any condiment. Ice is optional.

I vote Lagavulin too...nice smokey peat taste. But you can't go wrong with any of the classic malts, actually. Dalwhinnie is good, too. Served in a single
Donatello, no ice, no water.

I like all of the Islay malts that I've tried, but Caol Ila 12 year old and Laphroaig 10 year old are my favorites, especially the later.
Another bad habit you guys got me into... |

My current favorite for sipping is probably the Talisker 18 ... it might just be the best I've ever had. I really like the Caol Ila 18, as well.
Other favorites are: For the flask while fishing, Clynelish 14.
For a pre-dinner dram, the above-mentioned Caol Ila 12 or a Laphroaig 10.
After dinner, Macallan 12, 18 and Cask Strength or an Aberlour a'bunadh.
I like just about everything from Highland Park. The 18 y.o. will knock your socks off, if you can find it. The 15 y.o. is terrific, and maybe even harder to find. The 12 y.o. is one of the best values in whisky, IMHO.
