I have a Payne 206 9' 3/2/2 ( two tips & two mids) original brass capped tube,bag & tag and original? brass capped tip tube.All five sections 36
1/2".The tips and mids have slight sets,bottom guide on one mid has been re-wrapped on one side,the other mid has been over varnished and has
intermediates (possible replacement?) dark cane,agate stripper guide,ring hookkeeper,blued ferrules,cigar grip(small gouge on bottom)wood insert w/blued
sliding band and butt cap stamped Payne reg. u.s. pat. off. Butt cap also has one circle stamped on bottom.Rod appears un-refinished with the exception of one
mid.Tag states weight as 4 3/4 oz. and some illegible writing on upper corner.Seems to have med/med-fast action as it will throw a WF7 or DT6 a mile.Sorry
about the long-winded post,what I would like to know is year of manufacture,model (canadian canoe rod?) etc. and value.I know pics are a must for appraisals,I
will try to transfer from photobucket again.Thanks in advance for any help or opinions,Matt.

Sounds like a 1930-50's rod in the 50's a 206 was a 8 1/2 foot rod. Two mids is a mystery, does the bag fit all five pieces? A canoe rod weighs in a
5-5 1/4, and the tag would say it was a canoe rod. I have not seen any of these rods sell so pricing is a bit difficult but as to the 9' length and what
9' paynes in general are going if its original and not restored, i would put it at $1800. if restored $1500. In todays market a hard rod to sell.

Hello,thankyou fishbates and bobbeegee(posting pics).I suspected extra mid doesn't belong as it's been varnished over,different color wraps etc.Is
there any way to narrow down manufacture date by wrap configuration/thread color or that it has no script on rod? The reelseat would indicate an early
model,but I don't know.
