I prefer Bourbon and thought there were others here that do as well.
Sound off.

My favorite bourbon is Booker's Bourbon. It's a Jim Beam small batch bourbon, the only bourbon bottled uncut and unfiltered and usually hits the bottle
at around 124 proof. My next favorite is Maker's Mark which is a small batch distiller.

The trout takes the fly, the line tightens and it's like I was blind, but now I
see.

Thanks canenut, we needed one of these after so many runs through the single malts, either vicariously by the posts, or for some of us actually tasting our
way through the recommendations in a single sitting So, on to Bourbon. Maker's Mark and Bookers are great, and I would add Knob Creek to the list. But I can't forget a nod to old Dad's introductions to the simpler things in life such as all those "Olds," Crow, Grand-dad, and Forester, and there is nothing wrong with Wild Turkey--the higher the proof the better |

Bookers and Pappy Van Winkle 15yo (20&23yo are over-rated imho) are on the top shelf.
Everyday stuff would be Makers Mark, Knob Creek, Old Forestor (very good but often over-looked). |

1974 A.H. Hirsch Reserve 16 Yr. Old Bourbon; like a 24" rainbow taken using a Dickerson 7613 with a #22 Kimballs Midge Emerger on 7X; it just can't

When the favorite malt thread debuted,
I had to restrain myself from chiming in with a bourbon selection... I also like the Beam special batch bourbons; Booker's being the only one that I've yet to try. "Baker's" is about the smoothest sipping bourbon I think that I've ever had. I also like Knob Creek. Hayden's being a bit light for my tastes - I like something more robust. For a great budget bottle, try Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage. It's really pretty good, and at ~$24 to boot! I just scored me an old whiskey flask on the auction site, to carry with me streamside. It's one of those glass ones, with a leather covering up top, and a removable silver base that functions as a small cup. I like the idea of the European tradition, to celebrate a good catch with a nip..

Elijah Craigs. For the money, the 12 year-old is my favorite. Knob's alway good. Stay away from Jefferson's.

I tend to pick up either Buffalo Trace or Evan Williams, sometimes Basil Hayden. |

I've been a fan of George Dickel # 12 for the past couple of years, but it's availability is limited now.
I like Wild Turkey 101, but it's a bit to much "burn" for me .... does the 80 proof have the same flavor or does it seem more watered-down over-all. I've also been directed to Old Fitzgerald and Buffalo Trace. As you can see, I'm not wanting to exceed $20 a bottle, and still have a good carmel taste with some complexity and fullness in the mouth. Much obliged! Secondhandwolf |

I'd second the choice of Woodford Reserve - very soothing - my favorite. My second choice is Blanton's which also soothes the pallet nicely. Chris |

Berghoff's | #18 | ||

Until they gave up the ghost, Berghoff's restaurant in Chicago sold a private label bourbon of different ages. Oldest I ever saw was 15 yrs. Deep, rich
and woody. I thought it was a top-of-the-line bourbon. It was made by Stitzel-Weller.
For more common drinking, I'm with those who appreciate Knob Creek. Cheers! Lee |

My favorite single batch bourbon is Bookers for sure. As far as everyday big batch sipping whiskey, my favorite is the black label Jim Beam. |

I'll also give a thumbs up to George Dickel. Bulleit is good too. I can't speak to the Wild Turkey 80, I always buy the 101.
