Interesting old-timey wet flies. The box is actually for soaking coiled-up gut leaders - that's why it's round.

I like old flies, and I've collected a lot of them. They are often found in such leader (soaking) cases. That's good, they usually have a tight seal
and could protect old flies from bugs and moisture and light. They're probably worth more as mementos and conversation pieces -- real jungle cock eye, big
gaudy bass flies -- fun to look at.

I like old flies, too. They're icons of our sport and craft; always interesting. I lucked into a collecttion of A&F and Mills flies a couple years ago.

Nice flies. Those are the real thing. Here are a few pages from a Mills catalog.
Can't remember the date. 1920s sometime I think. I've got the another 20-30 pages scanned and hiding on a dvd somewhere. Someday I'll get the whole catalog online. http://montana-riverboats.com/Pages/Fly-Tying/Mills-and-Son/plate-2b.html

Thanks for the catalog link. There's some great history there. |
