No idea of manufacture or age, but a fine fishable reel. The 'scratches' inside could be 'roman no's' (Heaton?)

Very nice! Reminds me in some ways of an Ogden Smith Exchequer reel. Perhaps an early one?

I would lean towards early JW Young on this one
If you've heard this story before, don't stop me, because I'd like to hear it
again.

Pillars do look like early Young. The scalloped rim is also an early style. The pawl may be a repair w/ the slotted screw. Does it look newer, Heinz?

Heinz, great detail shot. Looks pretty old. So much for that observation--which can only be good news. :-)

I'm guessing Smith & Wall
the rods are never obsolete - the marketing is.

Reeldane, That is a lovely reel! I am only a recent student of Young reels but my gut tells me it is one... BTW, are you a Real Dane as well? I once caught
some aborre from a pond near Farum or So/sum. I wasn't smart or mobile enough to travel to Jutland for sjo/ orret. Lovely reel!

But it is especially exiting when someone compile all the information. And we who like the british/scottish reels - look forward to see the books; soon about Young - but also the Dingley Book sometime in the future. Yes I am as danish as one can be - and next time you are around - let me know, I will find more than a perch pond for you ! Reeldane
