If I didn't already have a few rods on order, I would scoop one or two of his offerings up! Very nice selection this time....

Ibook: Phone him at 845-639-7630. Good catalogs, fair prices and good reading. Save the catalogs for 20+ years and you should be able to sell them for more
than you paid.

Carmine catalog is loaded with a lot of nice 7-8'. Personally, I thought one of the best buys was the Granger Deluxe restored perfectly for $875. You just
don't see that Granger Deluxes in smaller sizes 8' and less and if I remember correctly in his one of his recent catalogs he had 7' Deluxe for
$2800 which wasn't his last catalog which leads me to believe it sold. His T&T's were also priced well. Wish I had some money.

About the Special Trouters...... | #12 | ||
|
As I understand it the Special Trouters were made to be an afforable all around medium action rod. I have owned more than one and I think they are one of the
smoothest casting rods out there. The quality of the rods is excellent. I suggest you cast one for yourself and see what you think. If you are looking for a
fast rod The Special Trouter is probably not the one. Best,Paul
PS Last time out on the grass, we cast 4 rods. Leonard #50 8ft, ST 8ft, 7 1/2 Classic, 8 1/2 Classic. My friend thought the ST 8ft was the best of the bunch I thought the 7 1/2 Classic was the best, the ST #2. we did account for the durability factor. As my friend chimed in are you going to admire it ? or are you going to fish with it. Quickly, I replied "a little bit of both and hopefully for a long time." From The 1979 Thomas & Thomas catalog ; "We designed th Special Trouter to meet a two- fold requirement. We have long recognized the need for a superior quality bamboo rod - one that truly excells in its class - that is within reach of those anglers with a special budget." "Powerful and accurate, these Trouters will meet the test as well as any,and the graceful flowing action of these rods is matched only by their lightness and their trim lines."....... well said ,I think. |
