I can't count the times I wished I had that third arm/third hand projecting out from the middle of my chest when building bamboo fly rods. As the bamboo
rod gets closer to being put in the tube, things become....well, stressful. And if things don't go as right as you want them to, the next thing you know,
you're wanting to "undo" something that it took you a long time to do not quite right.
Getting the reel seat flush up to the cork, and oriented correctly falls under this "third hand, almost done, how the hell did that happen" category. So, a long day at the Bridgy and this is what came out:
"Set it and forget it." Wished I'd a thought of that one. This fixture allows the builder to set the mortise precisely with relation to the reel foot, then apply adhesive to the rod, then orient the rod section with the reel seat, and then the plunger pushes the reel seet flush with the cork. And walk away. All done in less than a minute. If there is any interest, I'll post more photos.
Regards,
Chris
