A lot of discussion about cameras going on. I like the Panasonic. I say, keep it small. Waterproof is an option. There's always ziplocks.
The Leica or Lumix/Panasonic version DMC-LX2 (same thing) are barely bigger than a cigerette pack, but you have good zoom, great point and shoot programming, and most options available with a digital SLR if you want them. Color saturation and detail are fantastic.I was a professional photo pro for several years full time. Like I say, there are other less expensive options, but IMHO for a few dollars more, one gets a lot more in terms of picture quality from the Leica/Lumix/Panasonic group of cameras.Check out the pics on "throwing some drys on the bow" in this forum. Those were taken in program mode, handed off, as point and shoot. Cy
