All,
There is still time to come on up to Grayling for the Grayrock Gathering. If you're going to be there and you haven't registered yet, please let me know because we're trying to get a head count for the food (which Peter is doing a great job on!). I've added the current list of attendees to the web site. Also here is the list of programs that will occur over the weekend: Ron Barch - Rodmakers round table, on the porch. Jerry Drake - Sporting flies - Casting games. John Long - Presentation casts - on the river. Dennis Higham - Rod evaluation. Tom Clark - Classic 8' #5 weights from different makers. Glenn Blackwood - Fishing Literature John Pickard - The Dickerson shop. Rod Jenkins - Tools for rodmakers. Dennis Bertram - Bevellers and binders - updates on the tools. Sam Surre - Fishing the Au Sable/Manistee. A local fishing guide's report. Grahame Maisey - Spey rods and tapers and? Scott Bearden - The Maxwell Mill. Thursday night, prior to the Chicken barbecue - a new presentation. "Living with a bamboo addict" from the wife's perspective. This is the chance for wives, or significant others to share their observations on "Living with bamboo, and how it has enriched their lives". Let your voice be heard. The idea for this part of the program came from Mary Niemann, who I hope will start the presentation off after a short introduction. This will be on the Thursday afternoon, prior to the barbeque. Peter will be soliciting presenters, or those that want to be heard. You do not need to be present to have your voice heard, but your "bamboo addict" should be. If there are voices out there, we would like your input. We are negotiating for a metal detector and plainclothes police officers to be on hand for the presenters protection at all times. Auction - Friday afternoon; Some live by Glen Blackwood, and silent as well. Bob Andrus - Celebrating 50 years of Trout Unlimited just a few miles upstream from where TU got its start. |

Grayrock gathering update. | #2 | ||
|
We are looking forward to seeing old friends, and making some new ones, from Florida, Iowa, North Carolina and Michigan, all first time attendees. If you have
been sitting on the fence thinking about coming....... take the plunge, we have room.
The BIG flies should be right on schedule for the gathering. Brown drakes have been on various rivers for 1-2 weeks, and the Hex are about to start. Temperatures are climbing slowly and the rivers are in good shape. This is Michigan in the summer, so pack some fleece. I have bamboo available for purchase, contact me directly for details, or to discuss your needs. Tight lines, glue and fish. Peter |
