I am looking for information about Praline reinforced Heddon ferrules. Specifically, how are they attached, and can they be removed to re-set a ferrule. Can
you get them off in one piece so they could be re-installed? How? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I tried to get the ferrules off using the method Mike suggested but I don't believe it is possible. The plastic is feathered down to a very thin tab so that the silk can be wrapped up over the base and in general it is very brittle. The up side is that the heat seems to have reactivated the ferrule glue to the extent that the ferrule click is no longer there. So I think I will leave well enough alone. As you can see the rest of the rod is pretty rough. It is a 9' 3/2 with 2.5 ferrules. One tip is down about 4 ". I am not to much interested in using it as a regular rod to fish, I just want to see how far I can bring it back to original appearance. If thing turn out well I will see about having the short tip scarfed back to full length. Any other input would be appreciated and thanks to Mike for his input..
