I have no idea. BUT, I would guess that, since they are Brits, they would use a Brit company's silk. My best guess would be Pearsall's. Either naples
or Gossamer, or a combination of both.

Thank you, moon 8462, that is what I thought too, but it is clearly too thick for gossamer and unavailable in naples.

the fascination with small thread is a mania of the new millennium. i have had older generation builders literally laugh about wrapping a rod with gossamer.
they were building rods to sell was their thinking.
there is always some danger of imprinting modern thinking and practices on past action. i have heard more than a few historians do the same thing though what you are looking for is size 2/0, 1/0 or A. a brit company is probably correct, the Elephant brand thread from Belvoirdale (sp?) is about the only readily available thread i know. it is good thread too |

Thank you all.
Problem is, my messages keep bouncing back. Any suggestions? Best, hb |

I just ordered and received some Elephant brand threads from Grahame at Belvoirdale. I called him to see what he had in stock, and he said that the internet
and e-mail connections for the shop are not too reliable - he said to do the order by phone (215-886-7211). I received the threads promptly, and while they are
slightly thicker than some of the other threads I have used, they will work nicely for the restorations I'm working on. Make sure you set aside a little
time to chat with Grahame - he's a character and loves to talk bamboo.
