Any Tips for Removing Stickers from Rod Tube |
Lead | ||
|
I have an old rod tube with lots of mailing labels and USPS stickers on it that I want to remove. I usually use WD40 to remove stickers but that would take a
long time to get a bunch of them off. Does anyone have any good tips other than WD40 ?

Goo Gone or Goof Off will take off old adhesive labels. Goof Off seems to present the greater health risk of the two. Whichever you use, follow the directions.

I've used that Goof off stuff. It works quite well. Uses some kind of citrus extract I believe. Brian

"Try Lighter fluid or a hair dryer."
But not both at the same time.

Thanks a lot for the tips. I'll try the easiest first, the hair dryer and then graduate to the paper towels.

Try the heat gun (or electric hair dryer) first, to soften the glue and lift gently.
If that doesn't work, try using a can of some cheap generic hairspray. most of the brands have a type of ether in it that seems to soften and lift glue and then vanish without residue, better than other solvents along that line. I don't recommend citrus on a cardboard tube. with any chemical solvent, try to experiment with a tiny amount on a small out of the way part of the tube, first. That way, if it turns out to stain, it won't be disastrous.

WD 40
does the trick and makes it clean and shiny at the same time. Great on plastic fly boxes with price tags. |
