Pacific Northwesterners, mark your calendars for a few evening hours on September 25 at the Western Washington Univ. Performing Arts Center in Bellingham, WA.

Writers David James Duncan and Sherman Alexie, along with acoustic singer/songwriter Jeffrey Foucault out from Boston will host a night of music, poetry, reading and speaking, as a benefit for The Liam Wood Fly Fishing and River Guardian School.

It's just a remarkable, special and incredible college course (click the link for photos, schedule, etc)

The link explains more, but young Liam Wood was killed while fly fishing Whatcom Creek in Bellingham, when the Olympic Pipeline spilled 300,000 gallons of gasoline into the creek and exploded, in 1999. A 300-level course at WWU's environmental studies department was created in his spirit, the Art, Ethics and Science of Fly Fishing.

The theme of engagement will of course hover above and around fly fishing, river conservation, restoration and other thoughtful meditations.

A Shuksan split cane rod will be signed by the artists involved and silent-auctioned off.

Times and Ticket information TBA. The venue seats 1100.

Will be a special evening, no doubt.
