Hey All,
I am new to the bamboo rod making craft and I was wondering if someone could help me out. I am in the process of building some planning forms per Thomas Penrose instructions. I do not have a drill press for drilling my holes so I used a doweling jig. I already drilled my pin holes and I am almost finished with my pull bolt holes. That is were I ran into a problem. I am using 1" steel for my forms. So the total hole length for the pull bolts is 2" (through both pieces of steel). Now my problem/question is when I take measurements of the "in" hole were I started drilling and my "out" hole were the drill bit exited, I seem to be about 0.04" off center. I know it is important to get the holes as straight as can be, but is 0.04" over a 2" hole too much of a variance? Will this cause me problems with planning uneven strips or cause glue lines? Or is 0.04" over 2" span not going to be that big of an issue? I hope my question makes sense.
Thanks for your input!
