One piece rods |

Since there has been several threads/posts concerning these I thought I'd ask, what is the longest rod anybody owns or has knowledge of made from unspliced
continuous strips?

Tim, a friend and I have one-piece 8' T&T Sans Pareils that are made from continuous strips. The tubes alone are impressive.

I currently have four that fit your description | #2

6'6" 3wt
7'6" 5wt 7'9" 4wt 8'0" 5wt I know Tom Smithwick has made some long ones. And I believe Robert Kope, too. I was talking with Per awhile back and he mentioned that he might be doing a sick 8'6" 4wt for fun sometime. Mike Clark used to advertise 1pc rods up to 9ft, but never seen one. Gregg Messell and Craig Lynch I know still have some long rods in their respective rod stands. Bob Corsetti sold a sweet matching pair of those T&T Sans Pareil 1pcrs. One was 8' for a 3wt, the other 8' for a 5wt. I had just blown my money, so couldn't afford them. C

First off you need a good way to transport them. A convertible works great according to Ron Kusse. I have a truck with a special tube I place on a roof rack.
I have a few different lengths 8' being the longest in a quad and a six side. Al Talbot made them and they are great. I also have a few 7'6"
models. The Sweet grass bunch are talking about doing some one piece rods. They have the oven for it and the desire to make them. It should be interesting.

I'd have to recheck my catalogs, but I believe in the late 70's-early 80's T&T made 1 piece rods up to a 10' Salmon
model. Not sure of the method of construction but I do not think there were spliced strips.

In 1986 according to the Hearthside News, T&T indicated of their Sans Pareil one piece rods, "We are listing only lengths in which these rods are made
as the actions, weights, fittings, wraps, etc. will vary with your requirements." Their length started with a six footer and increased every six inches
to a maximum of nine and one half feet.

Hi ya, Tim. I haven't had them out this season, so I'll refresh my memory this weekend or early next week. The two shorter ones were made by Bob
Gorman, the latter two by Gary Howells. Both were pretty picky about cane, so I'm guessing they are free of any significant blemishes. If I haven't
said anything by Tuesday, shoot me an email. com.gmail@splitcane (reverse)
You still have that Whitehead 1pc? Chris

Cane blemishes on the long rods | #11
|
7'6" hex = very clean, not more than I have experienced on rods of similar length in 2 and 3 pieces.
7'9" hex = just about blemish free, so small as to be tiresome looking / criticizing. Got lucky on this culm I imagine. 8'0" quad = same as above except for first 12 inches above grip there is some light water marking of two flats of nearly 2 inches, but the marking is light in color and not distracting. Tim, sorry for the delay. Chris

I have had one that was 8'6" for a #8, the next longest were 8 footers, hex rods except for a Talbot quad. Nothing else casts like a one piece rod,
IMO.

Jerry Welcome to the Classic Flyrod Forum
WOW I had no idea that Cross even built one piece rods much less a 9'er. I guess some of the guys got bored and built a one of a kind rod ????? or a special order. Alan
