Spent a couple hours with my good friend and fellow rod maker, Mark Cole on the East fork of the of The Arkansas river alongside Leadville and we where chasing small browns
and the rods we used where My Recently acquired 9'6" U.S. Net & Twine KOSMIC and Mark's Tenkara rod {Yamame model} a 12' telescoping loop rod.
And here was my first little brownie on the KOSMIC on a #12 beadhead Hatton Hare's Ear.
And here is the second one;
And here is Mark landing a brown on a Cloudy Dark fly , just think a 3,000 year old style of rod and a 450+year old dry fly pattern
still doing themselves justice today; A Very cool trip!!!!
and here is Mark with one of the browns he caught on the KOSMIC.
This was a very special couple of hours communing with some of the past masters and the KOSMIC accounted for at least a couple fish in honor of each of the men who made her. A tip of the hat and a fishy toast to Fred Thomas , Eustis Edwards, Ed Payne and the Hawes Brothers!!!!!!!!!!
And catching a couple on Marks Tenkara rod was an absolute hoot!!!!
Jeff
and here is what it looked like when I drove home across Independence pass the next day
