Posts: 9 06/13/2009 19:37	Tags : None Hello folks. My sad story is that I was just checking out my Orvis CFO III reel today, and I find that it has sustained damage . The "T"portion of the reel body that supports the line guard has broken off, leaving the line guard attached by one screw. No sign of the broken-off bit; last time I used the reel was probably before a deployment to Afghanistan. The question then: is a repair possible? Likely I could bodge something together with JB weld and scrap aluminum that would be strong enough, but if there is a pretty repair that can be done it would be good to know. I'll check with Orvis after the weekend too. Thanks GWW

Posts: 464 06/13/2009 22:29	Hi GWW, Glad you're back safe and sound and many thanks for your service and sacrifice. There are many serious reel experts here that I'm sure will provide sound advice for a do it yourself repair. But if you're not an acomplished DIY sort of guy you can't go wrong by sending your reel back to Orvis. I've had a few issues with my CFO's over the years and I've found their service to be prompt, friendly, exact, and next-to-nothing reasonable in the cost department.
