According to this, you should just bring the Para 17, a sinking tip and some Polly Roseborough style nymphs:
http://www.erh.noaa.gov/nerfc/fcstprecip.shtml Yes, I'm in the same boat. Over an inch of rain measured at my house this morning, and hasn't stopped yet. Notice the trend line? http://waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=01093852

I was going to write, " I am definitely ready to go fishing this weekend, if it stops raining," and then I
thought, "Who am I kidding? I am going fishing, come hell or high water, the latter condition being pretty much guaranteed." I know some little brook
trout streams, perfect for the Midge, that can use the rain. I can chase trout or bass in Cape Cod ponds with the next two rods, and if the Parabolic 17 had
corrosion-resistant hardware I'd be chasing inshore striped bass with it. Maybe the sun will peek out after all, and the lily pads will rise up to shelter
some big largemouth bass to which I can cast a hair bug with the Para 17. But if not, like I say, I can't complain.

The sun did make a late day appearance, and I took a largemouth on the Para 17 - my first fish on this rod. Very little in the way yet of lily pads, so I tied
on a leech pattern, flipped it out there to get underway - and a bass took a swipe at it! I missed him, of course. It's disconcerting to hook a fish on the
very first cast - kind of like how Dice-K must have felt at just about the same moment, 75 miles to the north, when he threw his very first pitch of the
evening at Fenway Park and the ball was promptly deposited in the bullpen for a home run. But two minutes later I hooked this one.

That's a brand new grip on the Martha Marie, installed by Bob Summers forty-seven years after he built this rod. Before-and-after photos of the grip are
found here.

I actually got out for a couple hours this morning. Flow was about 400, a little off color, but not bad, just have to pick the wading spots carefully and
retrain the feet to stay under you. Friday we had another 1-1/4 inch of rain, nothing yesterday, been raining on and off all day today, with more expected
tomorrow and maybe Tuesday. We're setting new records on water level so far, air temp has been cooler and so has the water.
Oh, 4 browns decided to oblige to an olive woolly bugger swung down and across, my Gnomish Rod Works Para15. Can I count the one fish that jumped out of the water at my rod tip? Seriously, one did. I was swinging the rod following the line, paused it, then flipped it a little bit. The fish actually came up out of the water and smacked the rod tip hard enough to make it move.
