I've never had a real "fishing car". I just bought a used Mazda 3 HB, and while it's fun to drive, it's wholly unsuitable for use as a
car that could go to the places I like to fish. I'll have to park in a civilized place, and hike it. Not only that, any rod left in the car would be
easily seen if it's a two piece.
But that Austin, now that's stylin'! and the GMC looks like just the ticket for a round country extended trip. Anyone ever read Steinbeck's "Travels with Charly"? That's what I would do in the GMC. A land yacht, maybe with a dingy Honda 250 strapped to the back. dave |

I used to have a 67 Healy 3000 also had a Morgan at one
time. Now I have 3 fish cars and use them in no apparent order. I should spend less time fishing and cut the grass.
This one was taken fishing the S.B. of the Raritan in Jersey.

Jetta Sportswagen TDI... 50 mpg is a bit easier on the pocketbook these days. More money for fishing!

68 Buick Wildcat (sorry, scanned from a polaroid) Quick trip to Maine? Not shown - 61 IH Travelall, 79 IH Scout, 70 IH Pickup.......
"When all the rods and a lot of reels, lines, leader boxes, et cetera, had been sold, the gang paid at the cashier's
window for what they'd bought and then made a bee line for the rug room to test their rods. I put mine together, tested it for a moment or so, and then
started to show it to men I knew. Not a man was interested in my rod. They all, without a single exception, tried to get me to look at theirs. Extraordinary,
how self centered most men are. Have you noticed it? "

Haven't taken her out for a long time but this was my primary fishing vehicle for many years. The drive to and from the stream was just as enjoyable as
the fishing. Ahhh, that throaty sound of those duel Stromberg's and 6 cylinder in-line going 90 mph with the top down...sure brings back memories of a
simpler time in my life!

Greg knowing the way you take care of your cars, I wouldn't have minded having that Taurus when you were done with it. Enjoy the new Outback though. I have
a 2005 that just turned 100K and still enjoy it.

Just replaced a 2002 Outback, 156K on it, odd rust through on the rear doors, the bit of the subframe where the rubber bumper contacts it, 4 different people
tell me they never saw an Outback do that.
Replacement: 2008 Outback from Subaru "Certified preowned" program, I got it with 11,335 miles on it. Dealer had four other Outbacks, 2008-2009 with different amounts of mileage (low of 4300, high of about 33K). Saw a couple of 2010's on the lot; not sure I like the body style changes, reminds me too much of a Volvo. Grass is like hair: the more you cut it the more it grows which means you have to cut it more. I managed to get away with about 5 times this year (one more before the snow I guess). Andre: do the lights on the white beast still work?
There is usually only a limited amount of damage that can be done by dull or stupid people.
For creating a truly monumental disaster, you need people with high IQs.
