I never knew Bob Lang personally, but the man sure knew how to throw a great auction. Some of my best memories took place there.
Have a good journey, Bob, and know you will be missed. |

His influence was more far-reaching than he ever could have imagined. The shows that accompanied his auctions helped bring together hundreds of people with a
common interest outdoor equipment, and were it not for his auctions I never would have ventured as far into tackle collecting and history as I have.

And I too second Jeff's sage comments.

My sister and I have many fond memories too of the auctions. Grew-up working them for years!! We lived with fishing tackle all around us but didn't
realize my father's wealth of knowledge within the industry until we were adults. He was an amazing man who lived life to the fullest! Thank you all for
your kind words and the many memories of the auctions!

I dealt with Bob when he was the main man behind the Richard Oliver Auctions and continued to do so until he sold the Auction to the present owners. I made a
lot of purchases, over the years, at his auctions and never had a bad experience. Bob was always helpful because he understood the fishing tackle collector and
dealer's needs. In those days a good auction was 2-300 thousand dollars and were more personal. Bob seemed to know how to deal with his
"customers" because he was a collector and a dealer. He, like Marty Keane, was one of our true icons.
Bob and his personal touch will be missed. |

I met Bob Lang in 1982 at the very first North East Antique Anglers Show in Marlborough, Massachusetts. This
was years prior to his association with Oliver's …in fact, it was before Oliver even had a tackle auction.
